Whether it is because
of unpleasant past experiences, "horror stories" from well-meaning (?)
friends, or just the idea of someone poking around in a very sensitive
part of the body, most people do not look forward to visiting a dental
office. But we are committed to making your visits with us as painless
and stress-free as we possibly can. We do this in a variety of ways:
You are always in control
You say, "Stop," and we stop. Although we watch people closely for for
any signs of discomfort, many people are very good at masking what they
are feeling. If we don't notice, we want you to tell us if something is
bothering you.
Dentistry no longer has to hurt! There is always something we can do to keep you comfortable.
Modern local anesthetics work much better
than the older "Novocains" that were used a few years ago. With newer
techniques, they work much more quickly and much better for "difficult
teeth."
We can prescribe medication that will literally
let you sleep through a long appointment.
We can even provide dental treatment with a
general anesthetic (completely asleep) administered by an anesthesiologist.
The bottom line really is, we don't want to hurt people and people don't want to be hurt.
We
are committed to preventing both the pain and anxiety that many people
still associate with the older styles of dental treatment.
